The question
Situation
Your office wants to improve the break room. It can buy a better coffee machine or provide free fruit twice a week.
Task
Respond to the survey in about 150-200 words. In your response, choose ONE of the following options: Option A: The office should buy a better coffee machine. Option B: The office should provide free fruit twice a week. Explain the reasons for your choice.
Sample answer
Linking words are highlighted: they show the structure a rater follows.
I strongly support the option of providing free fruit twice a week for our break room.
The main reason is that this option would be useful in everyday life for everyone. It responds to a practical need for healthy snacks and would help employees manage their nutrition, energy levels, and daily well-being much more easily. A good workplace decision should benefit the widest possible group of staff members, not only the heavy coffee drinkers.
Another reason is that free fruit seems much easier to justify with the available office budget. It would create a clear, visible improvement that people could notice and enjoy regularly. I understand that a new coffee machine also has certain advantages, and some colleagues may prefer it. However, investing in caffeine feels less urgent and may not solve the most common wellness problem in our workplace.
For these reasons, I believe free fruit is the better choice for our team. It is practical, fair, and likely to create stronger overall satisfaction across the entire department. It would also be much easier to review after a short trial period to see if consumption levels justify continuing the program long-term.
