The question
Situation
Your bank branch wants to improve service. It can add more self-service machines or hire more front-desk staff.
Task
Respond to the survey in about 150-200 words. In your response, choose ONE of the following options: Option A: The bank should add more self-service machines. Option B: The bank should hire more front-desk staff. Explain the reasons for your choice.
Sample answer
Linking words are highlighted: they show the structure a rater follows.
I am writing to express my strong preference for Option B, which is to hire more front-desk staff at our local bank branch. While self-service machines have their place, I believe that increasing the number of employees is the superior choice for improving overall customer service.
There are two primary reasons for my choice. First, this option is far more practical for complex banking needs. Human staff can provide personalized guidance and solve intricate problems that machines simply cannot handle, which would greatly assist customers in managing their daily financial activities more effectively. This approach makes much better use of our limited resources by addressing the root cause of customer frustration.
Second, hiring more staff creates a sustainable, long-term improvement. Once these professionals are integrated into the team, customers will consistently benefit from their expertise without needing constant technical updates or additional planning. While some may argue that machines are faster, I believe that human interaction is currently more essential for building trust. For these reasons, I am confident that hiring more staff is the most responsible and beneficial decision for all of our branch members.
