The question
Situation
A school is reviewing phone use. It can ban phones during the school day or allow phones only during lunch.
Task
Respond to the survey in about 150-200 words. In your response, choose ONE of the following options: Option A: The school should ban phones during the day. Option B: Students should use phones only during lunch. Explain the reasons for your choice.
Sample answer
Linking words are highlighted: they show the structure a rater follows.
In my opinion, students should use phones only during lunch.
The main reason is that this option would be useful in everyday school life. It responds to a practical need for communication and would help students manage their time, comfort, or safety much more easily. A good decision should definitely benefit the widest possible group of students, not only a few people with a special preference.
Another reason is that allowing phone use at lunch seems easier to justify with the available school budget. It would create a clear improvement that everyone could notice and use regularly. I understand that a complete phone ban also has certain advantages, and some teachers may prefer it. However, it feels less urgent and may not solve the most common daily problem.
For these reasons, I strongly believe that lunch use is the better choice for our school. It is practical, fair, and likely to create stronger overall satisfaction among all students. It would also be much easier to review after a short trial period.
