The question

Situation

Your college wants to promote student health. It can offer free fitness classes or provide healthier vending machine snacks.

Task

Respond to the survey in about 150-200 words. In your response, choose ONE of the following options: Option A: The college should offer free fitness classes. Option B: The college should provide healthier vending snacks. Explain the reasons for your choice.

Sample answer

Linking words are highlighted: they show the structure a rater follows.

I would strongly choose free fitness classes for our college.

The main reason is that this option would be extremely useful in everyday student life. It responds to a very practical need and would help busy students manage their time, money, comfort, and physical safety much more easily. A good health decision should always benefit the widest possible group of students, rather than only a few people with a special dietary preference.

Another important reason is that fitness classes seem much easier to justify with the available student activity budget. It would create a clear improvement on campus that everyone could easily notice and use regularly to stay active. I fully understand that healthier vending machine snacks also have some advantages, and some students may prefer them between lectures. However, snacking options feel less urgent and may not solve our most common health problems.

For all these reasons, I believe free fitness classes is the better choice. It is practical, fair, and likely to create stronger overall satisfaction across the student body. It would also be much easier to review after a short trial period.
