CELPIP score chart and CLB converter
CELPIP reports a level from M and 3 up to 12 for each skill. Levels 3 to 10 convert one-to-one to the same CLB level, and levels 11 and 12 also count as CLB 10. Most Express Entry applicants need CLB 7 in all four skills; CLB 9 in all four earns the most CRS transferability points.

How it works
- 1
Enter your level for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
- 2
Each level is converted to its CLB equivalent.
- 3
Check each program's minimum: skills below it are flagged, so you know what to retake or practise.
Worked example
Listening 9, Reading 8, Writing 7 and Speaking 9 convert to CLB 9, 8, 7 and 9. That meets the CLB 7 minimum for Federal Skilled Worker, but Reading and Writing are short of CLB 9 for the most CRS transferability points.

Questions
Is CELPIP 9 the same as CLB 9?
Yes. From level 3 to level 10, each CELPIP level equals the CLB level with the same number.
Is CELPIP 12 better than 10 for immigration?
Not for points. Levels 10, 11 and 12 all count as CLB 10, so they score the same under Express Entry.
Which CELPIP test do I need?
CELPIP-General (all four skills) for permanent residence. CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking only) is accepted for citizenship.
