Task

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: The traditional concept of 'job loyalty' is no longer relevant in today's dynamic job market, and employees should prioritize their own career growth over staying with one company for a long time. Explain your position with specific reasons and examples.

Sample answer

Linking words are highlighted: they show the structure a rater follows.

I strongly agree that the traditional concept of job loyalty is largely obsolete in today's dynamic market, and professionals now rightly prioritize individual career growth over unwavering commitment to a single employer. Firstly, corporate environments are highly volatile nowadays. Frequent restructuring and sudden layoffs, which are often technology-driven, mean that employee loyalty is rarely reciprocated by companies anymore. Dedicated long-term workers frequently face unexpected redundancy, compelling individuals to proactively manage their own career security instead of relying on an organization. Secondly, true professional advancement demands diverse experiences and rapid skill acquisition across various organizations. Staying in one role for too long limits exposure to emerging methods and new technologies. A software developer, for instance, gains superior expertise by actively moving between different tech companies rather than staying put. While stability certainly has its merits, and a few specific roles still benefit from long-term dedication, these are increasingly rare exceptions. Ultimately, outdated job loyalty has been replaced by a pragmatic focus on continuous learning and strategic career progression, marking a fundamental shift in the modern workforce.
