Worked example
A lecture about why cities plant trees: they cool streets by up to eight degrees, improve health, but cost about two thousand dollars each over five years.
The speaker was discussing why cities are planting more trees. First, the speaker explained that trees can make a street up to eight degrees cooler on a hot day. The speaker also mentioned health benefits, giving the example of a study in London where people near green streets visited their doctor less. In addition, trees are expensive, at around two thousand dollars each over five years. In conclusion, the speaker emphasised that planners must decide where trees will do the most good.
Why it works
- Content is marked on the main ideas, so name the topic and at least two main points even if you miss the details.
- Fluency counts more than detail: if a slot is empty, say something general and keep going.
