Scores and feedback
How AI scoring works
Speaking and writing answers get an estimated score from speech recognition and AI scoring. Reading and listening answers are marked against the answer key.
- Reading and listening: marked exactly, using the same rules as the real exam where they're published, such as negative marking in PTE multiple-answer questions.
- Speaking: your browser's speech recognition turns your answer into text. We compare it with what you should have said, check pauses and pace, and estimate content, fluency and pronunciation.
- Writing: checked for word count, task coverage, grammar and vocabulary.
Open the score report after a speaking answer to see each word marked, and use What the examiner hears to replay your pauses and fillers.
All scores are practice estimates. Only the official test provider can give you a real score.
